Don't neglect your central nervous system!

The central nervous system (CNS) plays a role in nearly every aspect of our health and well-being, it is our control centre. ⁣

From the moment we wake up to the time we go to bed, it guides our complex processes throughout.⁣

The CNS is split into two parts:⁣

1- Sympathetic mode (flight and fight)⁣

2- Parasympathetic mode (rest and digest)⁣

For the most part of life we want to be on the parasympathetic side and less on the sympathetic side (unless we need it during SHORT bursts of stress)⁣

Unfortunately in todays world, chronic stress has taken over and has pushed us towards being dominantly in the sympathetic mode. ⁣

What we can do to support our CNS:⁣

1. Consistency- being consistent with your meal timings, when you go to bed and when you wake up is one the simplest ways to help balance our central nervous system. ⁣

2. Eating Whole Foods- food and nutrients are the building blocks for our CNS, they provide building blocks for neurotransmitter as well as brain and nervous tissue. By simply looking to nature for substance instead of overly processed foods, we are one giant step ahead.⁣

3. Check-in with yourself multiples times a day- walking, breathing, journaling, meditation, movement, pick whatever works for you to connect and get in tune with yourself. ⁣

In a world that is overly stimulated, help yourself not fall into the stress trap.⁣
